4/3/2018--LOCAL DEMOCRATS--Early-Mid April e-news

posted Apr 4, 2018, 8:36 AM by Douglas County Democrats   [ updated Apr 4, 2018, 8:39 AM ]

Please join us Wednesday to welcome both CD8 Candidate Jason Rittereiser and CD4 Candidate Christine Brown.

Jason will be in town all day, meeting with constituents and the media.  Christine will join us for the evening gathering.

The past week has been like an episode of fast and furious, both at home and around the country and world.  Keep walking toward the light and DON’T STOP!  On the plus side,

·         We marched with over 700 local students and community members, raising voices for safety for our kids and families, improved mental health treatment, and sensible gun laws.

·         Both counties held conventions to revise and adopt platforms and to elect delegates and alternates who will participate in June in the adoption of the WA State Democratic platform.  Thank you, to the 32 people who participated in this most-democratic process!  Congratulation to

o   Chelan County Delegates/Alternates: Kevin McKee and Frances Titus, Julianne Martinez and Daniel Hammond;

o   Douglas County Delegate/Alternate: Christopher Goehner, Suellen Harris.

·         Democrats showed up for “Coffee Breaks” at Pybus and, even though it had been cancelled, they showed up for the “Taste O’ Politics” event last Thursday!  All who attend are full of ideas and energy and rolling up their sleeves, ready to help organize and engage.  Thank you!

·         Last Saturday, accompanied by a crowd of hundreds in Yakima, Governor Inslee signed a bill into law recognizing Cesar Chavez Day as an official Washington state holiday. Chavez, the legendary farm worker advocate and social justice defender (with Dolores Huerta) fought for justice and representation during his career as an organizer in California from the 1950s onward.  We enthusiastically say, “Si Se Puede!”
