Dear NCW Democrats and Friends,

Over recent weeks, we've taken time to assess the impacts of COVID-19 on our community and our local Democratic efforts.  We're shifting our focus from in-person events and thousands of doors visited, to (temporarily) moving most of our meetings and events into a virtual environment.  We'll be watchful -- but not idle -- as our governor and science lead us forward.  In the meantime, we have work to do.  We need to elect thoughtful, smart, and effective leaders.  We're reminded of the importance of that every day.  And we invite you to be involved in whatever way you can.

For the benefit of this eNewsletter, we have 3 important things to share:
  • NCW Democrats General Monthly Meeting  Wednesday, 5/6/2020, 7:00p: Join us for a Zoom meeting to learn about coordinated campaign updates, precinct committee officer recruitment efforts, upcoming events, and much more.  For this online event, you can join by computer or smartphone using both audio and video, or by standard phone, using only audio.  To enhance the security of the Zoom environment, fill out this form https://forms.gle/AXapBwEn4dvQywZB8 and we'll send you the Zoom invitation link and instructions.  Hope to see you at the meeting. 
  • NCW Democrats will host Tuesday "Coffee Breaks" -- every week!  Tuesdays, 5/12/2020, 11a--noon.  Join as early as 10:30 to get comfortable with the Zoom technology.  At these virtual gatherings we'll host guest speakers, candidates, share information about how to get involved and make it count, and so much more.  Again, use this link: https://forms.gle/2KfnSnFTmF68coBt5.  Fill out the simple form and we'll send you a Zoom invitation to join the "Coffee Break."   Feel free to "Bring your own beverage!"  
  • Precinct Committee Officers NEEDED!  May 11--15 is filing week for local elections.  In order to be elected as a PCO, you must file to run for office with your county elections office.  We have wonderful volunteers who lead precinct teams in approximately half of the voting precincts in Chelan and Douglas counties.  In order to elect Democrats up and down the ballot, we need to expand the team.  We hope that you'll become a member of the "Blue Crew!"  Contact us to help.
At this time, we are finalizing the election of local delegates to our state and national Democratic conventions.  Congratulations to the 36 people who are running for those delegate positions.  Names and results in our next eNews.

Our HQ Team continues to work on projects that you'll see soon.  Yard signs will be available in ~June.  We anticipate a Field Organizer will join us in June.  Phone banking is happening every day, Sunday thru Thursday.  It's easy and good training is available.

Adrianne Moore is running a smart campaign to replace Keith Goehner in the WA House!  Doug McKinley just entered the CD4 race and plans to beat Dan Newhouse.  Let's get behind them.  Offer to host a Zoom meeting to introduce them to your closest friends.  Volunteer to make calls.  Donate to their efforts. 

Say, have you thought about running for office?  We have resources to help.

We're still hoping to be able to hold the annual picnic on 7/19 5p at Hydro Park in E Wenatchee.  We also have the county fairs scheduled in late Aug and early Sept, and our annual dinner at the Wenatchee Convention Center on 9/19.  Everything is, of course dependent upon best practices for social distancing.  

Join us for a Zoom gathering soon.  We miss you.  And don't forget that if you can spare the price of one coffee each month, you could help us make up our budget shortfall.  All of our fundraising events are cancelled or on hold, but we still have the work to do.  Together.
