Dear PCOs, campaign volunteers and area Democrats, Putting together a successful political organization takes a lot of moving parts (volunteers) and from the NCW Democratic point of view that means assisting with a number of political campaigns – national (presidential and the US House races), state (electing and re-electing individuals who want to protect and improve our WA society), and local (individuals who put public health and safety above party). Our core leadership has been working on preparation for this Presidential Election year since the fall of the 2018 and it’s clear we have created a great foundation of volunteers to take on this year’s campaign activities. In both Chelan and Douglas counties we had more individuals file to become PCOs (precinct committee officers) than ever before! Together with those other individuals who have stepped forward, our list of active volunteers is growing every day. Join us at 11am every Tuesday for a Democratic “Coffee Break”. We’re often joined by candidates, staff, or other interesting guests. Request a Zoom invitation by signing up HERE. Summary of activities: · Core activities – team building and laying the foundation for then 2020 campaigns · The March 10 Presidential Primary Election turnout was HUGE in both counties – an increase of more than 8k voters over the 2016 Presidential Primary · We plan to send a Postcard to those voters; Special Project fundraising now underway · Filed for PCO – Chelan 44 plus additional 7 more appointed PCOs / Douglas 24 plus additional 6 more appointed or acting PCOs · Still seeking volunteers to assist with vacant precincts · Meetings with Coordinated Campaign staff from the Washington State Democrats – an on-going activity · Meeting with the staff to re-elect Dr. Schrier · Meeting with the staff of Adrianne Moore · Meeting with Doug McKinley (CD4 Dem candidate) campaign · Planning virtual visits from our WA State Executive Democratic candidates · Switching from door-to-door canvassing to Virtual Phone Banking; first targeting the No Data voters to identify Dems vs Repubs; includes calls being made locally and from the State org. · This will increase the number of positive voters we’ll need to contact during the GOTV push and will assist every Democratic candidate. · Working communication between individual campaigns and our area – sign distribution and suggesting volunteers to assist · Fund raising for basic office activities and Special Project – · Office expenses still need at least 25 new contributors at $10 per month via ActBlue to meet our election year expenses. · Special Project – have raised about $3,500 of the needed $6,000 per mailing but have enough in our funds to get this started in time to meet the Primary Election “ballot drop”. · Organizing our yard sign distribution to have regional pickup areas – requesting donation to cover cost of nearly $8 per sign · VOTER TURNOUT is the key to winning · Virtual Joint Douglas and Chelan Democratic meetings, Coffee Hours, and special events with candidates will continue If you want to help create a bigger impact for the elections ahead, send us a note. Sign up to Volunteer HERE (https://forms.gle/33r3hfqsKj2d8CJh7) We certainly could use additional financial support for our Special Post-Card project and future outreach. Your donation – one-time or recurrent – will be most helpful. Bill Miller, Chair, Democrats of Chelan County (425-444-9598) Karen Keleman, Chair, Douglas County Democrats (509-630-3055)
