2019 Mid October eNews

Dear NCW Democrats and Friends,

Our system of checks and balances is working, though not fast enough for most of us.  Please keep shining a light on the path forward – we’re all in this together!

Notes for THIS WEEK and coming soon:

Tuesday 10/15/2019: Take a Democratic “Coffee Break” 10a—noon, at Dem HQ, 768 S Mission, Wenatchee.  Come to catch up on local activities in an informal daytime setting.  These coffee gatherings happen in Wenatchee on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Drop in!

Tuesday 10/15/2019, 5pm: 4th Presidential Primary Debate Watch Parties hosted in 3 locations by NCW Democrats.  Milepost 111 (Cashmere), Bob’s Burgers & Brew (E Wen), private residence (Manson).  Twelve candidates will be in this debate.

Friday 10/18/2019:  BALLOTS expected to arrive in our mailboxes.  If you don’t receive yours before the following Monday, call your county elections office.  Remember that you can register AND vote up until 8p on election day, if you go to your election office.  You can register or update your voter registration by mail or online until 10/28/2019.  Check out what’s in your personal voter file and on your ballot at https://voter.votewa.gov/WhereToVote.aspx.

Between NOW and 11/5:  Volunteer to help one or more of your favorite candidates running for non-partisan offices this year.  Spoiler alert: there are Democrats on our ballots!  They need an army of support to win their races.  Research shows that a friendly knock on the door by a sincere candidate or volunteer is THE most effective way to influence a voter.  Try it – you may find you like it!  Also, if you’d like a short phone list of Democrats to “nudge” to vote before the election, let us know!  Or stop by the office and we’ll make phone calls together!

Tuesday 11/5/2019:  GENERAL ELECTION DAY – Please remember to VOTE and encourage every friend to do the same!

Wednesday 11/6/2019: Monthly General Meeting of Democrats of Chelan and Douglas Counties, 6:30p social/7:00p meeting and program, location and program tba.

Saturday 11/9/2019: Annual Chelan-Douglas Democratic Dinner—KICKSTART 2020!, 5:30 social/ 6:30 Dinner and Program, Wenatchee Convention Center (lower level), $60 adults / $30 students.  Tickets available NOW – come by Dem HQ to purchase OR mail your check to 768 S Mission, Wenatchee.  Make checks payable to Chelan-Douglas Dinner Account.  Congresswoman Kim Schrier and WA-Dem State Party Chair Tina Podlodowski are confirmed speakers/guests (others, pending).  Great food, a little fun, lots of Democrats, positive messages and invitations to jump into 2020 to build a better future.  All are welcome!  Volunteers needed to help plan and staff the dinner and help with the auction!  Thank you, Jim Crawford and Michelle Lahd for leading the auction committee!  Do you have an item or experience to offer for the auction?  All proceeds will support our local efforts in 2020 to elect Democrats, up and down the ballot.

·        Jim McFerson and Laurie Jinkins: thank you for your very informative presentations at our general meeting this month.

·        Thank you to the local Democrats who are helping keep our Democratic Headquarters Office open 5 days each week!  We have more than 30 monthly donors and numerous others who make individual contributions.  We organize and train Democrats, meet community members, and plan for wins in 2020 and beyond.  How do you measure success?

·        Attend a candidate forum or two before you mark your ballot.  Or consider reading some of the candidate coverage online and in print.  Call us if you want to discuss.

Look forward to seeing you soon.  Please consider coming to the 11/9 dinner – we’d love to see you there!
