Dear NCW Democrats and Friends,
The Oath of Office has deep meaning to those who serve; the Oath of Citizenship recited by new citizens has a profound effect; the words and meaning of the US Constitution establish aspirational goals for much of the world. The abuses of this president and many who flank him are obvious. Articles of impeachment have been written and published. The House Judicial Committee will consider amendments this week (mark ups), before voting the articles out of committee. Next week, the entire House of Representatives will debate them and a final vote will be taken to impeach—maybe by Tue/Wed. Please read the articles of impeachment (thank you, Ed M, for sharing this link: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/12/10/us/politics/articles-impeachment-document-pdf.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage). Consider attending a special Democratic “Coffee Break” next Tues at 10a at Dem HQ to have a group reading and discussion. The sober nature of these words (and recent years) weigh heavily on all of us. But we will persist!
NEXT WEEK and coming soon:
Tuesday 12/17/2019: Take a Democratic “Coffee Break” 10a—noon, at Dem HQ, 768 S Mission, Wenatchee. Come for the first hour to catch up on local activities in an informal daytime setting. For those who wish, we’ll have a discussion from 11-noon about the articles of impeachment. These coffee gatherings happen in Wenatchee on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Drop in!
Tuesday 12/17/2019, NCW Dem Winter Party. All are welcome! Attend this family-friendly event from 5—7p at the Dragon’s Lair (Eastmont Lanes, 704 Grant Rd, E Wen). No charge, but your donation of non-perishable food (for the NCW Food Bank) and a few dollars (to help offset our expenses for pizza and cake) will be appreciated! First 10 kids get a free game token! First 10 pizzas are on us! Thursday 12/19/2019, 5pm: 6th Presidential Primary Debate Watch Parties Enjoy watching this debate from the comfort of your own home! We’ll gather again in Jan 2020 to watch the 7th debate (date tbd).
Mark Your Calendars:
Saturday 01/18/2020, 10—12ish: 2020 Women+sMarch Wenatchee Additional details will be published and shared soon. Plan to attend sign-making events in early-mid January! Holiday Office Hours: We’ll be open this week, but will take some breaks during Thanksgiving week and the first week in December. If you see the light on, the office is open! Stop by for coffee or business. Enjoy this time with family and friends. Then, onward to Kickstart 2020 – hope you’ll make time to join us! There’s so much to do.
