2019 End of October eNews

posted Oct 31, 2019, 5:30 PM by Douglas County Democrats   [ updated Oct 31, 2019, 5:32 PM ]

Dear NCW Democrats and Friends,

A sober and grave day, but let’s “right” this ship!  The House just voted to begin public impeachment hearings with nearly all Democrats (+ Justin Amash) voting yes.  Not one Republican joined them.  The timeline for hearings and successive actions promises to be short and intense.  Our republic will need your input and support.

At local, state, and national levels, Democrats are working for us.  Although progress seems excruciatingly slow, we know they’re being methodical, thorough, and strategic, and trust the outcomes will bring better tomorrows for our country and the world.  Whether you consider yourself to lean blue or green or purple, we know there are BIG problems to be solved, and to do that we need to work together.

In the meantime, here on the home-front, we have work to do to become a more cohesive Democratic organization.  Grassroots training and work in every neighborhood, an increased visibility and voice, continued civic involvement, outreach to one another to hold up a truly big umbrella – all will help foster the democracy that we desire.   Consider attending the dinner on 11/9 – it’s being organized and held for you to meet one another and to hear from people who are on the front lines right now.  We’d love to have you join us!

Notes for THIS WEEK and coming soon:

NOW:  BALLOTS should be in your hands (or you’ve already voted!).  If you haven’t received yours, call your county elections office.  Remember that you can register AND vote up until 8p on election day, if you go to your election office.  Go to your personal online voter registration page to check out what’s in your personal voter file and on your ballot (https://voter.votewa.gov/WhereToVote.aspx).

Between NOW and 11/5:  Volunteer to help one or more of your favorite candidates running for office this year.  There are Democrats on our ballots who are running for these non-partisan positions!  They need an army of support to win their races.  Also, if you’d like a short phone list of Democrats to “nudge” to vote before the election, let us know!  Or stop by the office and we’ll make phone calls together!
