11/13/17 LOCAL DEMOCRATS—Local events this week!

posted Mar 28, 2018, 11:06 PM by Douglas County Democrats

Dear Democrats and Friends,

Democrats (~370) gathered last Wednesday for our annual dinner, to reflect, celebrate, and prepare:

·        We have survived a full year of ’45, resisted his administration’s assaults (albeit not without pain and damage), and are ready to “Rise and Organize!”

·        A record number of local, state, and national Democrats ran for office in 2017, taking back the WA State Senate and filling many non-partisan offices.  Many won their races.  All who ran are WINNERS.  Many more stand in the wings, ready for 2018 and beyond.  Are you one of them?

·        Keynote speaker WA Attorney General Bob Ferguson was like a breath of fresh air--honest, open, competent, and dedicated.  Thank you, Bob!

·        We met candidates running to represent us in Congress for the 8th CD.  Dave Reichert, having announced his intention to retire, is on his way out in the 8th CD (and we need to remind him that he has nothing to lose and can do the right thing with each vote this coming year!).  Six dedicated Democrats—Tom Cramer, Mona Das, Brayden Olsen, Jason Rittereiser, Kim Schrier, and Toby Whitney will vie for a spot on the 2018 Primary Ballot (8/7) to run against Republican candidate, Dino Rossi (haven’t we heard his name somewhere before?).  Make sure to follow and meet each of the Democrats over the months ahead.  Tonight’s forum at 6:30 tonight at the Cashmere Riverside Center will provide another opportunity (see below)!

·        In the 4th CD, Democrat Christine Brown is an impressive candidate running to replace Rep Dan Newhouse as our representative in Congress.  Go, Christine!

A brief reminder about three informative events this week and next:
