10/31/17 LOCAL DEMOCRATS—Mid-October Updates

posted Mar 28, 2018, 11:01 PM by Douglas County Democrats
Dear NCW Democrats and Friends,

Whew—what a day!  One we’ve been waiting for.  Hooray for professionals who know what they’re doing and go about doing it!  And on the homefront, we have elections, school board meetings, climate actions, canvassing, many other important activities.  And more to come.  Here are a few events we hope you’re considering:

Please DON’T FORGET to VOTE—Your vote matters!  Many of the local races will be won or lost by just a handful of votes.

General Democratic Meeting, Democrats of Chelan and Douglas Counties and the 12th LD will hold a general meeting this Wednesday, November 1, beginning at 6:30p (social), with the program and regular business beginning at 7:00p.  Candidates have been invited to share updates for the November 7 General Election.  Also on the agenda is planning for the November 8 Chelan-Douglas Democratic Dinner with keynote speaker, AG Bob Ferguson.  The November 1 meeting will be held at a new temporary location, NW Family Services Office (CAFÉ), 366 S Mission St, Wenatchee.  All Democrats and friends are welcome.

"Democratic Coffee Break," Democrats will also meet at Pybus Market at 10am on Tuesdays, November 7 and 21, for a a twice-monthly informal gathering of local Democrats.

GENERAL ELECTION, 11/7:  Local candidates running for offices in all Washington communities are pounding the pavement and knocking doors to introduce themselves to constituents.  Ballots have arrived and must be returned by Tues 11/7.  Ballot drop boxes at numerous locations around our counties are locked that night at 8pm.  If your ballot hasn’t arrived, call your county elections office for a replacement: Chelan 509-667-6808, Douglas 509-745-8527, Okanogan 509-422-7240, Grant 509-754-2011.  Turnout (ballots returned as of today) is running between 11-12% in all four counties in NCW.  The Voter’s Pamphlet is minimalist for this election, but more detailed information can be found for all county elections at https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/.  Other resources include interviews with local candidates conducted by the Wenatchee World https://www.wenatcheeworld.com/search/?q=elections, The Empire Press, NCWLive, and the candidates’ personal websites.

Annual Chelan-Douglas Democratic DinnerWednesday, November 8, 5:30p, Wenatchee Convention Center, ATTORNEY GENERAL BOB FERGUSON will be our guest and keynote speaker!  Tickets available now.  $55 adult / $30 student. Call 509-393-2377 or email ncwdems@gmail.com to reserve your tickets or a table!  We don’t need your payment right now, but must know whether you’re coming before the end of this week!  Don’t miss this memorable event—good food, good friends, informative and inspiring.  Meet candidates from current and future elections. Let’s fill the hall to celebrate our Attorney General and the work he’s doing for Washington and the US.
